Agrico pumps prove integral to Agrivert’s AD success
Leading pump and mixer supplier Agrico has proved a valuable partner to anaerobic digestion (AD) plant developer Agrivert, supplying a range of pumping equipment to the company’s network of UK biogas plants.
Since 2010, Agrivert has designed and constructed seven food waste AD plants ranging in size from 2.1-3 MW. Each Agrivert plant uses a combination of Eisele and Wangen pumps supplied by Agrico, who are the main UK agent for the two German brands. They successfully handle most pumping requirements throughout the plants, from feeding material into the front end through to processing digestate at the back end.
Chris Woolcock is Agrivert’s AD Commissioning and Continuous Improvement Manager. Having witnessed first-hand how the pumps perform, he enthuses: “We are very happy with the robust design and build quality of both the Eisele and Wangen pumps. Performing different roles within the plants, together these units are significant contributors to the overall reliability and performance of the fleet. Chris continues: “I have been particularly impressed by two pumps on our first plant. An Eisele VKM 40 has clocked approximately 500,000m3 without us having to put a spanner near it (other than for routine inspections); while a Wangen KLs80 has completed nearly 1,000,000m3 and only required a replacement seal pack and a few oil changes. This magnitude of reliability and cost-effectiveness is remarkable in this industry.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to customer support, Agrico offers an installation service and provides YouTube videos to demonstrate the correct use of their products, helping to maximise efficiency and ensure a long operating life.
